Joan Miller and her husband moved to Sun City eight years ago from New Jersey.  Joan has always looked at the things around her differently than most do.  She has always had an over active imagination.   Her parents gave her paints and brushes when she was in seventh grade.  When a teenager, she used pastels to illustrate the bible stories she told in Sunday school.  Since then she has dabbled in as many mediums as she can including china paints.  She taught porcelain doll making for 10 years before moving to Sun City.  One medium that gave her trouble was watercolor, but after taking a VAC class with Carol Light, she found that she could “do it.”  Joan takes photographs to supply herself with scenes and subjects to paint and found that what she has learned in the Photography Club has also helped in perspective and composition of her paintings.  She likes to paint on anything –  fabric, hex signs on wood plates, flowers on tins, portraits on tile and canvas, murals on floors and walls, and on porcelain Christmas ornaments. Joan’s artwork will be on display in the Activities Center Atrium for the month of November.
